Mounting materials
Mounting materials
For safety reasons, GRP walkway gratings and panels must be fixed in place. The mounting of gratings and panels serves to guarantee a safe walking area. In offshore situations, it also serves to protect products and resist the forces of water and wind.
Mounting material can be provided in various types and steel grades, depending on the application and environment.
- Stainless steel: 316-A4: Vinyl ester gratings (type VE-FR; VE-XFR) for chemicals
- Stainless steel: 304-A2: Isophthalic gratings (type ISO-FR and all other types) for normal corrosion-resistant outdoor and offshore or marine environments
- Galvanised (HDG): ortophtalic gratings (type ECO-NFR; ECO-FR) all environments with low corrosion
Mounting GRP open gratings
Mounting GRP open gratings
As standard, GRP gratings are produced with open meshes. The open meshes are formed during the production process by the raised blocks in the mould. After the hardening process, the grating is pushed to the surface, creating a plastic grating with open meshes. This type of plastic grating is extremely suitable for a variety of applications, such as walkways, landings, platforms, and stairs.
As standard, Fiberstruct recommends the clips below for open gratings:
B-clips
B-clips
Preferably, B-clips are used in situations where drilling is not desirable. The arm of the B-clip ensures that the grating is clamped to the supporting profile. This type of clip is very easy to fit from the top.
M-clips
M-clips
M-clips are usually attached by drilling into the supporting profile. This type of clip is very easy to fit.
U-clips
U-clips
U-clips are usually attached by drilling into the supporting profile. This type of clip is very easy to fit.
F-clips
F-clips
An F-clip is a special type of clip that eliminates the difference in height between plastic gratings. The fastener also reduces deflection, contributing to the strength of the unit as a whole. The F-clip is fitted from the top and ultimately provides a very even result.
Mounting GRP closed panels (HLU)
Mounting GRP closed panels (HLU)
GRP panels are produced by using an open GRP grating combined with a dense laminated fibreboard. This fibreboard varies in thickness from 3-5 mm and has a standard anti-slip layer. This type of GRP panel is extremely suitable for a variety of different applications, such as walkways, landings, platforms, bridge decks.
As standard, Fiberstruct recommends W-clips for closed panels.
W-clips
W-clips
W-clips are specially designed for attaching HLU panels (sealed/closed gratings) to the supporting profile. Both the sealed panel and the profile should be drilled.
Mounting GRP stair treads
Mounting GRP stair treads
For your convenience, Fiberstruct offers the complete support set in addition to GRP stair treads. You no longer have to wonder whether you have the right materials and can start working immediately and safely! Fiberstruct would like to draw your attention to the fact that proper installation of stair treads is essential to ensure safe and comfortable use of the stairs.
