Plastic floor gratings for heavy industrial applications

Plastic floor gratings for heavy industrial applications

When you work in corrosive environments such as the chemical industry or the offshore sector, you know that steel gratings quickly lose their strength due to rust formation. This leads to unsafe situations on the work floor and forces you into expensive, recurring maintenance rounds. Replacing corroded floor sections not only takes considerable time but also significantly disrupts daily operations at your location. The plastic floor gratings from Fiberstruct provide a direct and durable answer to this challenge. Our GRP gratings are fully corrosion resistant and up to 70% lighter than steel, making installation easier and safer without compromising on load capacity. Thanks to our own European production facility in Slovakia, we guarantee top quality and short lead times for all GRP products you need for your project.

GRP plastic gratings for maximum safety and long service life

Slippery walking surfaces caused by oil, grease or water are among the greatest risks on industrial platforms and landings. A standard top layer often provides insufficient grip under extreme conditions, increasing the risk of slipping. As the person responsible for safety, you need a solution that maintains reliable anti-slip performance under all weather conditions without weakening the structure of the floor grating.

Our plastic walking gratings come standard with a high-quality quartz anti-slip layer, ensuring the safety of your employees is safeguarded. All gratings from Fiberstruct are also flame-retardant and comply with strict certifications such as ISO-9001-2015 and DNV-GL. This gives you a low-maintenance product specifically designed for use in industry, where reliability is the highest priority.

Custom work and engineering with plastic gratings

In complex projects within civil engineering and infrastructure, standard dimensions rarely fit precisely. You often face high costs due to significant cutting waste or complicated adjustments on the construction site itself. Without the right technical foundation and

static calculations, you also run the risk that the structure does not meet the prescribed load standards for your specific situation.

Fiberstruct offers full support through our engineering department. We use advanced 2D and 3D software to design custom gratings that fit exactly to your (steel) drawings. By optimising the layout in advance, we minimise cutting waste and accelerate the final processing of project requests. This results in a cost-effective solution for every type of GRP grating.

Applications of glass fibre reinforced plastic

In the maritime sector and in marinas, salt water and UV radiation eat away at traditional building materials, leading to high replacement costs. You need a glass fibre reinforced plastic solution that is non-conductive and resistant to the most aggressive chemical properties. Whether it concerns walkways, stairs or complete structures, the material must last for years without intensive maintenance.

Our floor gratings are available in various resin types, such as orthophthalic polyester or vinyl ester, depending on the chemical load at your location. As part of the Syndus Group, we not only supply the material but also think along about the total construction sector integration. We supply panels in virtually any desired RAL colour and dimension, such as the standard 3000 x 1000 mm or 2440 x 1220 mm panels.

Specifications and assembly of plastic walking gratings

Assembling a plastic grating floor at a remote location can be a logistical challenge. When the fastening materials do not perfectly match the supporting profile, dangerous vibrations or height differences can occur. Custom solutions require a partner who not only supplies but also understands how installation works in practice to prevent delays during construction.

With us you can choose from various types of clips, such as the M-clip or F-clip to eliminate height differences. For heavy-duty gratings with a thickness of, for example, 38 mm or 30 mm, our specialists advise the correct fastening straight away. Also take a look at our completed projects to see how we have realised complex structures from start to finish for our clients around the world.
